Just in time to kick off the celebration of Black History Month, The Stanley welcomes Black Violin to the stage.
Kev Marcus and Wil b are Black Violin, two classically trained musicians who, along with their DJ, TK, have created the ultimate synergy between classical and hip-hop music and with it, an incredible opportunity to reach children. In 2005 the group was awarded the prestigious title of "Apollo Legends".
Kev Marcus and Wil b, both graduates of Dillard Performing Arts High School, used their musical talents to earn full scholarships to college. Now, Black Violin wants to make sure that North America's young people get the same exposure to the arts, and therefore, the same opportunity that they did. Performing and touring with Alicia Keys, P. Diddy and Akon to name a few, Black Violin has committed themselves, for the next few years, to give back and teach children that classical music is cool! Set on a tropical island in the Pacific during World War II, a U.S. Navy nurse falls in love with a local plantation owner. This classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, the winner of seven 2008 Tony Awards, features one of the most romantic scores of all time and is also a deeply felt drama. Its portrayal of Americans stationed in an alien culture in wartime is as relevant today as when it first thrilled audiences in 1949. Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance
